Howth Express, a new, fun and different way to explore Howth!
The Howth Express is a new tourism attraction introduced to the village by local businessman, Niall Doonan. It consists of a miniature train, with three or four little wagons in tow, as shown in the photo above.
The pleasure trip runs Thursday to Sunday from 12 until 17.00, with a trip roughly every 30 or 40 minutes, (weather dependent)
The route starts at the old Courthouse, takes in the harbour front, turns at the top of the East Pier in front of O’Connells and runs up to Howth Castle. Next up is the National Transport Museum, where passengers can get out for a visit if they so wish, then back to the middle pier past Howth Yacht Club and the Lifeboat house, returning to the Courthouse.
The trip takes roughly 25 minutes and costs €5 per adult and €3.50 per child.
